LIKE THE FREE
These are times that’ll test the depths of any nation’s soul,
But in America we were born in fire, 200 years ago,
When freedom was the prize they won, at a cost so very dear,
Now vigilance is the shield we bear, to keep that freedom here.

And they never knew how the nation that they made,
Time, and time again, the world would save,
They were living lives of freedom, just like you and me,
And they died, just for living like the free.

Say, can you hear them, calling on the breeze?
"America, forget me not, this thing do for me."

Now, centuries have come and gone, and a madman stalks the land,
A tyrant from some distant shore, reaching out his hand,
With dreams of dark insanity, he plots against us all,
With schemes of raw brutality, he moves to make us fall.

The air was bright, the sky was clear, on a blue September day,
As travelers from near and far, took flight upon their way,
While Americans of every birth, rose to greet the day,
Workers, firemen, police, all, went off to earn their pay.

And, they never knew they were never coming home,
When the sun went down 3,000 souls had gone,
They were living lives of freedom, just like you and me,
And they died, just for living like the free.

Say, can you hear them, calling on the breeze?
"America, forget me not, this thing do for me."
"America, forget me not, this thing do for me."
