THE HONEY BEE SONG - LYRICS

THE HONEY BEE SONG

Well, the honey bee, friend, ain’t done us no harm,

But, the bees are getting scarce, down on the honey bee farm,

Ain’t no one can say exactly what’s going on,

‘Cept when they go to the hive, you know, the honey bee’s gone.

* * * * *

Now, the bee been around since the Biblical time,

Serving up honey, and doing just fine,

So, when science do say, he ain’t doing so well,

Maybe science knows something, it ain’t willing to tell.

* * * * *

‘Cause they be studying this, and a’studying that,

Grasping at theories, at the drop of a hat,

But, someone, somewhere, knows an answer that’s true,

They just ain’t a’telling it to me, or to you.

* * * * *

Well, I want to see a bee on that flower,

I want to know he’ll come back, somehow,

I want to know that we’ve got the power,

To straighten this all out, right now.

* * * * *

And, if you go to the store, honey’s a million a pound,

‘Cause there ain’t many honey bees a’buzzing around,

But, if you take a close look, now, at some that you’ll find,

Well, it pretty much seems, that they’re some other kind.

* * * * *

They’re looking darker, and different, maybe longer somehow,

Maybe up from Australia, coming in on some scow,

Though many will tell you, that I’m majorly wrong,

What’s left looks different, with too many gone.

* * * * *

Yeah, honey ain’t nothing, if you don’t eat the stuff,

But pollination’s no joke, if the going gets rough,

So I’m asking and pleading, maybe begging some, too,

Please save the honey bee, ‘cause his fate is ours, too.

* * * * *

Well, I want to see a bee on that flower,

I want to know he’ll come back, somehow,

I want to know that we’ve got the power,

To straighten this all out, right now.

* * * * *

Said, I want to see a bee on that flower,

I want to know he’ll come back, somehow,

I want to know that we’ve got the power,

To straighten this all out, right now.

Yeah, to straighten this all out, right now,

I say, to straighten this all out, right now.
